Ode to Wicker

This wicker Hermes Kelly bag looks just right.

I'd like to carry it while wearing a Fendi dress in white.

Tina Turner could drive me around in her Fiat Jolly that surely goes zoom.

At the end of the day, we could hang out in this chic lattice room.

The End.

Lanvin Lives On

Did you know that fashion designer Jeanne Lanvin's grandson is an interior designer in Moscow?  Neither did I until yesterday.  I love when creativity runs in a family.  I also love that Jean-Yves Lanvin's apartment isn't as over the top as I've come to expect from Russian design but I guess that's because he's French.  You can see more of it as well as an interview here.  He also has a website which is unfortunately all in Russian but you can still look at the photos! Enjoy!

Perfectly Imperfect Parisian Apartment

As we move into the new year, many of us will be working on organizing our lives and our homes.  I know this because I spent most of Sunday cleaning out my closet and organizing my files.  Why does the interior design industry have to use so much paper?!  While I want everything to be neat and orderly, I realize that there is often beauty in that which is imperfect.  There is something about this Paris apartment that is slightly off but looks so perfect to me.  It also clearly illustrates the difference between American and French decorating styles.  The French don't seem to sweat the small stuff and I will try to remember this in 2011.

Frederic's French Flat

I really wanted to post some of my photos from Versailles today but my computer had other ideas.  Now I have to run to a meeting at a magazine so I'm leaving you with these photos from French designer Frederic Mechiche's flat in the Marais area of Paris.  I will try to add some details when I get home later but I think you will see that a picture is worth a thousand words when it comes to this amazing home.  I think it's now one of my all time favorites.  A tout à l'heure!

Bohemian Chic

I forgot to mention in my last post that Oscar de la Renta has a Tumblr account.  Well, it actually belongs to the Oscar PR Girl and she will be posting behind the scenes photos of the atelier and more.  One of the photos on there now is of Loulou de la Falaise who collaborates on the jewelry for Oscar de la Renta.  At first this seemed like an odd pairing but I think Loulou's bohemian chic style complements Oscar's uptown girl aesthetic.  The jewelry is always fantastic and it's clear from Loulou's own home in Paris seen here that she is a collector of not only necklaces and bracelets but interesting furniture and accessories.  Loulou mentions in Dressing the Home that her decor is less studied than her fashion designs and definitely has a certain joie de vivre that could never be achieved with a decorator.  C'est magnafique!
